Kevin Bugg

Some of you will already know that Kevin Bugg passed away unexpectedly several days ago.   A service will be held at Yeovil Crematorium at 11:20am on the 24th of December.

Micheala Bugg posted the following message on Facebook:  "It would be wonderful if you could join us in celebrating this wonderful, funny, kind and loving man's life. There will be a service held at Yeovil Crematorium at 11:20am on the 24th of December. We appreciate this is a busy time of year for everyone, but it's important to us, as a family, to have him laid to rest before Christmas. Thank you to everyone, who has sent their love and condolences. He would be so grateful for all of the love and support we've had."

Open Letter to the membership

I would like to thank the committee and membership for electing me to be the new Chairman of the Sea Harrier Association. I am deeply honoured to be asked to fill the shoes of our founder Chairman Tom Dawson, who has now stepped down.

I’m sure you will all want to join me in saying a big thank you to Tom, for all the hard work he has put in, getting the association up and running. I hope I can continue to keep the association flourishing, as the founder members first envisaged, with the help of the excellent committee we have in place.

Our Treasurer Lewy Lewis has indicated his wish to stand down before the next AGM, again I would like to thank him for all the hard work he has put in. We will now be looking for a volunteer to take over Lewy’s role, if you are interested please email Bob or Sandra so we can put it to the membership, at the next meeting.

Gary Neil our social secretary is looking at venues for the next AGM in Portsmouth, various venues have been suggested, but some of the venues are asking “silly” money to provide facilities. He is going to Portsmouth to check out some other venues on our behalf, and I hope we will be able to let the members know dates etc. early in the New Year.

It is my intention to host a committee meeting in January date to be confirmed, via a Skype conference call, so we can discuss our plans for 2019, and I know Bob has asked the committee members to send him their skype address, ready for the meeting.

I hope to share a tot with all of you, after we have had the small ceremony at the winged aviator, with the other FAA groups,  to toast absent friends, on Remembrance day after the march.

I look forward to seeing a lot of you in London for the weekend of the 9th-12th November, when we gather to pay our respects and “swing the lamps” over a few drinks in the UJC and other dens of iniquity that we find on our travels.

Kind regards

Stephen Abbott AKA Bud

Hi all,

Our current membership which stands at 144 + 4 Honorary Members. A new high!! (I will send the list of members as a separate E mail.)

Also, our NEW Web site is up and running. The new link is part of my Signature block below!  Chick on the web site address and take a look.

A new Chairman (Steve Abbott) was Nominated and seconded at the AGM last weekend. All attendees agreed he should 'take the Helm'. However, before he is formally appointed, please feel free to respond to this E mail with any comments or if you would like to propose an alternative or disagree with the decision made on the day.

We require someone from our Association to volunteer to Lay our Wreath at Yeovil Borough for remembrance Sunday this Year .

Next year's venue for the AGM was also discussed and PORTSMOUTH was proposed. Gary Neil, our Social Secretary is looking into possible venues such as HMS Warrior/ Royal Maritime Club to hold the occasion. However, if any one from the association would like to propose an alternative and assist with the administration for it, please respond to me and I will liaise with the other members of the Committee before we press ahead with arrangements.

Yours Aye

Bob Gellett
